Grow Master Heatherton is a large retail garden centre set on a one-hectare site in Melbourne’s southeast. Open to the public seven days a week, the business offers a wide range of plants, trees, indoor pots and homewares.
With customer traffic rising and space at a premium, the Grow Master team needed a reliable shed builder who could deliver high-spec structures without disrupting day-to-day trade.

Over time, as the business grew and operational needs changed, Grow Master required two very different shed solutions: one for retail display and sales, and another for storage, workshop use and operational efficiency.
The Challenge
The first shed, constructed more than a decade ago, was not a standard storage shed.
Grow Master needed a large, bespoke showroom designed to house indoor plants, giftware and a dedicated point-of-sale area. The structure needed to operate as a customer-facing retail space, with full glazing, high ceilings and distinctive angles. The brief called for a visually striking shed, more like a retail pavilion than a conventional steel shed.
Years later, the Grow Master team needed a second structure for back-of-house operations.
This time, the requirement was for a high-clearance, practical storage and workshop shed, custom-sized to fit into a tight footprint between existing infrastructure. The shed needed to allow for pallet racking, forklift access and roller doors positioned to support operational efficiency.

The Trusteel Solution
For both builds, Trusteel provided design and construction tailored to the site, the available space and the business needs.
On the original project, Trusteel’s ability to deliver a non-standard architectural finish helped set the company apart. The finished structure was more akin to a winery pavilion than a typical shed and continues to function as a retail hub today, housing hundreds of plants and regularly welcoming customer foot traffic.
For the more recent project, Trusteel worked closely with Grow Master to customise a 23m x 10m shed with a six-metre wall height and gable roof, creating the internal clearance needed for storage and workshop use.
Roof insulation and electric roller doors were included to improve comfort, usability and day-to-day operation.
Although the Grow Master team handled the council permit process themselves, Trusteel provided guidance and support throughout, often going above and beyond the official scope to help keep the process moving.
Implementation & Delivery
While securing the building permit involved some external challenges, once approvals were in place, Trusteel’s crew delivered the shed smoothly and professionally.
Installation was carried out without interrupting business operations.
The build area was separate from the public zone, and the on-site team kept a low profile while maintaining clear communication throughout the project.
The result of the most recent project was a high-spec, durable shed that met all structural requirements and supported the future needs of the business.
