About the Client
Mark owns a lifestyle acreage property near the coast in Balnarring. The property supports cattle, hay production and a range of semi-rural uses, requiring practical storage for hay, tractors, implements, vehicles and workshop equipment.
Before the project, hay was being stored outdoors under tarps and covers, while tractors and implements were also left exposed to the weather. Given the property’s coastal location, constant exposure to salt air was a major concern, as it can shorten the lifespan of machinery, vehicles and equipment.
The Challenge
Mark was looking to create a secure, weatherproof storage solution that would suit both the current and future needs of the property.
After exploring options for smaller structures, he decided one large, custom-designed shed would be the best solution. He took inspiration from other sheds in the area and developed a concept that combined agricultural storage, machinery protection, workshop space and practical access.
The design needed to incorporate:
- Four large bays for multiple uses
- Dedicated hay storage areas
- Equipment and machinery storage
- Workshop space
- A surrounding verandah
- Custom barn-style sliding doors
- Multiple roller doors for easy access
- A design suited to coastal exposure and strong winds
The Trusteel Solution

Working closely with the Trusteel team, Mark refined his initial ideas into a structurally robust design suited to the site’s coastal conditions and exposed position.
The finished shed measures approximately 24 metres by 15 metres and includes:
- Four large bays
- Five roller doors
- Custom sliding barn doors
- Extensive verandah coverage
- Flexible internal space for hay, equipment, vehicles and workshop use

Implementation & Delivery
Like many rural and acreage shed projects, the overall timeline extended beyond the shed construction itself due to the site preparation required.
This included levelling works, filling and settling requirements, concreting, plumbing and electrical installation.
Once the site was ready, the Trusteel team fabricated the structure off-site before delivering and erecting the building efficiently.
The completed shed now houses hay, tractors, farming implements, vehicles and workshop equipment, while also providing flexible space for future recreational use and ongoing property improvements.
